It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jack Kay z"l, a founding donor, board member, and a cornerstone in our hospice's history.
From our very beginning, Jack believed in our mission with extraordinary conviction. His founding gift made possible the Kay Family Resident Wing, which will provide comfort and dignity to hundreds of families each year during life's most difficult moments.
But his impact extended far beyond any single contribution. Jack understood that transforming end-of-life care wasn't just about facilities; it was about creating a community committed to honouring every life with dignity, compassion, and respect. He lived that commitment every day, and inspired others to join him.
Just recently, Jack and his wife Pat joined us at the construction site on a beautiful sunny day and took part in a ceremonial bricklaying. He took joy in seeing what his generosity was creating, knowing the future of care and support that will be provided in the place he helped build.
His family's dedication to the vision of Neshama Hospice continues through his son-in-law, Board member Michael Schlesinger, carrying on a legacy of service.
Jack's family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the charities about which Jack was passionate. Neshama Hospice is honoured to be one of those charities.
We extend our deepest condolences to the entire family.
